ArcGIS is a geographic information system (GIS) for working with maps and spatial information. It is used for creating and using maps, compiling geographic data, analyzing mapped information, sharing and discovering geographic information, using maps and geographic information in a range of applications, and managing geographic information in a database.
ArcGIS Online (AGOL) provides an infrastructure for making maps and geographic information available throughout TFS, across a community, and openly on the Web. Common uses of AGOL including using mobile apps such as Collector and Survey123. When asked for the ArcGIS Enterprise URL, enter: tfsgis.maps.arcgis.com
ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) provides a desktop style environment installed on your computer for making maps. ArcGIS for Desktop Standard (formerly known as ArcEditor) includes advanced tools for manipulation of shapefiles and geodatabases; ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced (formerly known as ArcInfo), which includes capabilities for data manipulation, editing, and analysis.
